SOFT1 Cloud ERP or on-premise SOFT1 ERP? How to choose

Cloud or your own server? How SOFT1 Cloud ERP differs from an on-premise SOFT1 ERP, and the questions that decide which suits you.

ENTERSOFTONE’s SOFT1 runs either on your own server or in the cloud. The choice is not about fashion: it changes who maintains what, how you pay and where your team can work from. Here are the differences and the questions that decide it.

Two ways, one system

SOFT1 ERP is installed on your company’s server. Your data stays in your office, and you or your partner look after the server, backups and upgrades.

SOFT1 Cloud ERP runs on Microsoft Azure and opens in the browser, on PC and phone. It is paid by pay-as-you-go subscription. Backups and upgrades are handled automatically by ENTERSOFTONE.

There are more than two options

ENTERSOFTONE offers five deployment models for SOFT1:

  • On-premise: you buy a licence and the system runs on your servers.
  • ASK: on your own server, with an annual subscription instead of a licence purchase.
  • Cloud: a fully managed service on Microsoft Azure.
  • SaaS: a subscription service on shared resources.
  • Hosted (Virtual Private Cloud): in the cloud, on resources dedicated to you.

So you can keep your data in the office and pay by subscription, or go to the cloud on dedicated resources. See which model suits you in four questions.

Five questions that decide it

  1. Do you already have a server that copes? If it is new and well maintained, on-premise SOFT1 makes use of it. If it is due for replacement, the cloud saves you the purchase.
  2. Where does your team work? Reps on the road, a second shop or working from home point towards the cloud, which opens in the browser.
  3. How reliable is your internet? The cloud needs a connection to work. Where the line is weak, a local server is the calmer option.
  4. How do you prefer to pay? A subscription spreads the cost over time. A licence purchase is a larger investment up front.
  5. Who will look after the infrastructure? In the cloud, ENTERSOFTONE looks after the ERP’s server and backups. On-premise, you need someone who knows both the server and the software.

What does not change

Either way, you need people who know the system: for moving data from your old program, configuration, training, and the question that comes up on a Wednesday afternoon. Compliance does not depend on the model either. E-invoicing from 2 November 2026 and Phase B of digital transport documents from 1 January 2027 apply to every business alike.

How ABOVE helps

We install and support both. Because we also look after servers, networks and backups, we tell you honestly whether your server is worth keeping or whether the cloud would save you trouble. Book a 30-minute demo and see SOFT1 working on your own business, wherever it runs.
